with
David
Brent
Johnson
Wednesday
2pm
Night Lights is hosted by David Brent Johnson.  The show focuses on jazz from the 1945-1990 era—a timespan that, as Johnson notes, “weirdly parallels Miles Davis on record and the Cold War.” Covering artists such as Jackie McLean, Charles Mingus, and Nina Simone and themes ranging from jazz recordings of spirituals to avant-garde interpretations of the Great American Songbook, Night Lights also features many lesser-known talents of post-1945 jazz, such as saxophonist J.R. Monterose, trumpeter Freddie Webster, and piano/singer duo Dick and Kiz Harp.

Bob
Protzman

With an emphasis on what’s new, and plenty of attention to jazz’s storied history, Bob strives to present the very best of both, focusing on the great players—The Masters—past and present. To give listeners an idea of the tremendous breadth and depth of jazz, the host aims for variety and quality. Variety-wise--as the title of the show indicates--the listener can look forward to hearing many styles from different eras, a variety of instrumentalists and vocalists, and multi-sized groups (solo piano to big bands and everything in between). Bob constantly chooses the unusual over the ordinary.
